PARIS, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tennis player Wang Qiang let her two match points slip away in a 6-1, 5-7, 4-6 loss to Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan in the third round of the 2018 French Open here on Friday.

Wang had already posted her best record at Grand Slam tournaments after making into the third round in Paris. In the first meeting with Putintseva at Tour-level tournaments, the 85th-ranked Chinese maintained her momentum on that and finished an early break in the opening game.

Putintseva could not hold up her patience in adversity, often furiously throwing her racquet onto the court.

Wang only conceded one game in the first set, before building a 4-0 lead in the second through an eight-game winning streak.

Putintseva broke for the first time in the fifth game, and tied the score at 4-all. Both of Wang's match points in the tenth game were saved by Putintseva, who forced a tiebreak at 7-5.

Wang led 3-0 in the decider, while Putintseva made a strong comeback with five consecutive games through powerful forehands and astute dropshots.

Putintseva managed to convert her third match point in the tenth game, eliminating the only Chinese women's player remaining at Roland Garros despite her 54 unforced errors.

Prior to Wang's exit, Duan Yingying, Zheng Saisai and Wang Yafan were eliminated in the first round, while Zhang Shuai and Peng Shuai crashed out from Thursday's second round.
