LONDON, June 6 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 25.57 points, or 0.33 percent, to close at 7,712.37 points.
Rio Tinto, the international mining group, soared 3.30 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Barratt Developments and Antofagasta rose by 3.26 percent and 3.14 percent, respectively.
United Utilities Group, a British water company, with its shares losing 1.93 percent. Imperial Brands, a multinational tobacco company, dropped 1.92 percent. Unilever, a multinational consumer goods company, dropped 1.78 percent. Enditem
