BEIJING, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), on Thursday met with Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov in Beijing.

Li said during the meeting that China and Kyrgyzstan are good friends, neighbors and partners. President Xi Jinping and President Jeenbekov agreed to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries Wednesday, ushering the bilateral ties of the two countries into a new era.

"China's NPC is willing to strengthen exchanges with the parliament of Kyrgyzstan to provide legal protection and policy guarantee for cooperation related to the Belt and Road Initiative, support intensifying bilateral security cooperation in combating the 'three evil forces' of terrorism, extremism and separatism, and safeguard regional security and stability, so as to advance the newly-established comprehensive strategic partnership," said Li.

President Jeenbekov said it has always been Kyrgyzstan's priority to develop ties with China, stressing his country's willingness to boost legislative cooperation with China, jointly combat the "three evil forces," and support the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.
