JERUSALEM, June 8 (Xinhua) -- About 10,000 Palestinians participated in the mass rallies at five locations near the Israel-Gaza border on Friday, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

Israeli troops killed at least four Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy, and wounded more than 600 others, Israeli media quoted medical officials in Gaza as saying.

The IDF said dozens of kites and balloons lit on fire or with explosive devices were launched from Gaza into Israel.

"Explosive devices and grenades were hurled at IDF troops," it added.

Israeli troops responded with riot dispersal means in accordance with the rules of engagement, the IDF said, adding that it has reinforced presence along the border fence.

The Israeli police said over 190,000 people arrived in the Old City of Jerusalem for Friday prayers on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
