#CHINA-GUIZHOU-BATIK OF MIAO PEOPLE (CN)

A woman of miao ethnic group draws batik painting at her studio in Yangwu Town of Danzhai County, southwest China's Guizhou Province, June 8, 2018. Miao people's batik handicraft is one of China's national intangible heritages. As the major inheritance site of Miao people's batik handicraft, Jijia Miao Village of Yangwu Town has a good many excellent craftspeople, but the inconvenient traffic had impeded the sale of batik products to the outside before 2017. With the increasing improvement of traffic and assistance from local government and volunteers since 2017, people here become more accessible to the outside world. Nearly 50 craft-women here joined a local cooperative and some others established their own batik studio. The batik products of the village are now able to sell about two million yuan (312,348 U.S. dollars) every year. (Xinhua/Huang Xiaohai)
