Motiejunas to stay in China next season: Lithuanian media

VILNIUS, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Lithuanian basketball star Donatas Motiejunas will remain in China next season playing for Shandong Golden Stars, Lithuanian sports media outlets reported on Thursday.

According to Lithuanian basketball news website 24sek, the 27-year-old forward have already signed a contract with Shandong Golden Stars which he played for during the previous season.

Motiejunas is to earn 3 million US dollars during the season remaining the second best paid Lithuanian athlete after Jonas Valanciunas, the center from Toronto Raptors, 24sek reported.

Motiejunas decided to sign the contract with Shandong Golden Stars without waiting for any alternative offers from NBA, where he had previously played for a few seasons.

"I had a successful season in China, I played a lot, the team was doing good, everyone was happy," Motiejunas recently told news website delfi.lt.

During his previous season in China, Motiejunas scored 23.2 points and grabbed 11.8 rebounds per game helping the team to reach the semifinals of the CBA League.
