CAIRO, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) on Thursday condemned the crimes and violations committed by the Houthi group in Yemen, calling for an immediate departure of the Houthis from the city of Hodeidah.

The AL's Council said "Houthis uses the Yemeni Red Sea port city of Hodeidah to prolong the war, increase the sufferings of the Yemeni people via trafficking weapons and ballistic missiles to target Saudi Arabia."

It added the Houthis exploited the revenues of the Hodeidah port to fund its military operations and hinder the access of the humanitarian aid.

The council reiterated its support for Yemen's constitutional legitimacy led by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The meeting came while the coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) began on Wednesday morning an all-out offensive to liberate the city of Hodeidah from Iranian-allied Shiite Houthi rebels.
