MOSCOW, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Some people will do almost anything to watch their side play at the World Cup, but few of the tens of thousands of supporters in Russia will have done as much as Miguel F; a Peruvian supporter who gained 25 kilos so he could cheer his country on.

In an interview with Spanish TV network Antenna 3, Miguel explained that he gained 25 kilos in weight in just three months so he could get his hands on one of the few tickets left on sale in Peru.

"All of the tickets sold out quickly and I didn't want to miss out on the World Cup, because I love Peru more than anything in football. I went to all of the qualifying games and I had promised myself I would go to Russia," he told the network.

"But the only tickets left were for people with reduced mobility and one of the requirements was to be morbidly obese. I had a body mass of 30, when it needed to be up to 35, so I had to gain 25 kilos in weight," explained Miguel.

"I bought the tickets and then I started to get fat: I ate everything, but especially carbohydrates. I had just three months to present my certificate of obesity and fortunately I was able to succeed."

Miguel is now in Russia to cheer on his country, but he had to leave one of his best friends behind in Peru, although given his friend's plan to go to the World Cup, that is probably for the best.

"He was going to deliberately break his leg, but in the end, he decided against it," Miguel said.
