GAZA, June 18 (Xinhua) -- A 13-year-old boy died Monday of serious wounds he sustained several days ago after he was shot by Israeli soldiers near the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel, medics said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Health Ministry in Gaza, said in a message sent to reporters that Zakareya Beshbesh, 13 years old, from al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza died of his serious wounds in eastern Gaza Strip.

Beshbesh was critically injured by an Israeli army gunshot in the abdomen and was in the intensive care unit at Shiffa Hospital in Gaza before his death was declared on Monday afternoon.

Earlier on Monday, a Palestinian man, identified as 24-year-old Sabri Abu Khader, was shot dead by Israeli gunfire near the Gaza Strip border fence with Israel, Health Ministry in Gaza said.

The spokesman did not give further information, while the Israeli army has not commented on the incident so far.

At least 130 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops near the Gaza-Israel borders since the outbreak of Palestinian protests, known as the "Great March of Return," which have been ongoing since March 30.

Earlier in the day, Israeli jets carried out a series of air raids on military facilities belonging to Islamic Hamas movement, which rules Gaza, without reported casualties.

The Israeli air forces struck nine military targets in two military compounds and an ammunition manufacturing site of Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip, according to a statement by the Israeli army.

"The strikes were conducted in response to arson and explosive kites and balloons that have been launched into Israel," the statement added.
