GAZA, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Israeli army war jets carried out on Thursday afternoon an airstrike on southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, and no injuries have been reported, according to eyewitnesses and security officials.

They said that an Israeli aircraft fired two missiles at a group of young men east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, not far from the border with Israel.

Meanwhile, an Israeli army spokesperson said in an official statement that an Israeli aircraft attacked an infrastructure used for releasing flaming kites and balloons into Israel.

Palestinian young men released hundreds of flaming kites and balloons that caused huge fires in agricultural fields in Israel, causing severe damage, but no injuries were reported, according to the Israeli media.

On June 9, the Israeli army began to fire missiles at those releasing flaming kites and balloons from the Gaza Strip into Israel. On Wednesday, Israeli warplanes carried out dozens of airstrikes in response to releasing flaming kites.

On March 30, the Palestinians in Gaza started rallies, protests and demonstrations called "the Great March of Return."

Ashraf al-Qedra, the health ministry spokesperson in Gaza, told reporters that the death toll since March 30 has risen to 131 and around 14,000 were injured, around half of whom were shot by live ammunition. Many of the injured are still in critical condition.
