MOSCOW -- "Everybody knows that we are ready for contacts. If we have an agreement on a senior or top level meeting, it will be made public in due time," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday.
He made the remark in response to media reports about a Putin-Trump meeting.
The Russian and U.S. presidents have repeatedly expressed their interest in having a meeting since they last got together on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Hamburg in July 2017.

NEW YORK -- "We must all think about what more we can do to help. The answer begins with unity and solidarity," United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said.
Guterres made the remark to commemorate World Refugee Day.
"We need to re-establish the integrity of the international refugee protection regime. In today's world, no community or country providing safe refuge to people fleeing war or persecution should be alone and unsupported," Guterres said.

BOGOTA -- "I want to call on Congress again to approve this procedure, to approve this law, so that the JEP can operate normally and swiftly," Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said Wednesday.
Santos made the remark in a statement to call on Congress to approve a key piece of legislation for the ongoing peace process.
The call to pass a bill that enshrines the procedures of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) came after the Senate moved to postpone the vote.

MEXICO CITY -- "Its exit from the council does not exempt it from fulfilling its international obligations in the matter of promoting and protecting human rights, just like any other state," Mexico's Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Mexican government "laments the decision" announced Tuesday by President Donald Trump's administration, and "is convinced that multilateralism is the ideal path to tackling global challenges," the ministry said.
