DUBAI, June 23 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) top diplomat said on Saturday that the UAE will support all efforts by the Saudi-led Arab coalition to achieve the unconditional peaceful withdraw of Houthi rebels from Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah.

The remark was made by UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash in his tweets on the battles to liberate Hodeidah.

It was essential that "all diplomatic effort and pressure" is exerted to bring about the withdrawal of Houthi militias from Hodeidah, Gargash said.

The UAE has received reports about "Houthi snipers and weapons being placed in Hodeidah's neighborhoods," he added.

Hodeidah is the lifeline route for importing and transporting humanitarian aid to northern Yemen.

The Saudi-led coalition intervened in Yemen's civil war in March 2015 to support the internationally-recognized government led by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi against Houthi rebels.
