MOSCOW, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian striker Jefferson Farfan will miss his side's last game in the 2018 World Cup finals after a training incident that left him needing hospital treatment.

Farfan, who plays his club football in Russia with Lokomotiv Moscow, was knocked unconscious in a collision with the goalkeeper as Peru trained in the Khimki Arsena ahead of Tuesday's Group C game against Australia.

The striker was taken to hospital in an ambulance and the Peruvian Football Federation published a communique confirming that he had suffered "cranial trauma," and that although test results have been "favorable," he will remain in hospital under observation and has no chance of playing in Tuesday's game.

Peru played well in the 1-0 defeats to both France and Denmark which mean they have no chance of reaching the next round in Russia, but will look to restore some pride in their last group match on Tuesday when they face an Australian side that can still reach the last 16 if they beat the South Americans while France defeat Denmark.
