GAZA, June 24 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian died Sunday of wounds he suffered recently during anti-Israel protests along Gaza-Israel border, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

Osama Abu Khater, 29, succumbed to the abdomen injuries he sustained on Friday, Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman for the Health Ministry in Gaza said in a statement, adding that Abu Khater was receiving treatment at the European Hospital in Khanyounis city south of Gaza.

This brings the death toll among Palestinian protesters to 132 since the rallies known as the "Great March of Return" started on March 30.

The rallies also caused the injury of some 14,811, of whom 366 suffer from serious wounds.

The protests, which peak every Friday, demand the return of Palestinian refugees, who were forced to leave their cities during the Arab-Israeli war in 1948, as well as lifting the blockade Israel has been imposing on Gaza since 2007.
