KUNMING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Police in Puer City in southwest China's Yunnan Province have destroyed 3 tonnes of drugs seized since 2017.

They included 1.6 tonnes of crystal meth, and 1.4 tonnes of heroin, morphine and opium, local police said.

Puer, located at southwest part of Yunnan Province, is close to the Golden Triangle, which is known for rampant drug production and trafficking. The city is a major front in China's battle against drugs, and has conducted several joint operations with Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam to fight drugs.

Since 2016, local police have cracked more than 2,300 drug cases, seized 2,081 suspects and confiscated 9.3 tonnes of drugs.
