TEHRAN, June 28 (Xinhua) -- In a blast and subsequent fire in Iran's petrochemical complex on Thursday, one person was killed and five others were injured, local media reported.
The accident took place in the Iranian southwestern city of Abadan on early hours of Thursday.
The blaze has been contained, but it is likely for the fire to break out anew due to the flammable gases in the tanks, the Crisis Director of Khuzestan Province, Kioumars Hajizadeh, told official IRNA news agency.
The Abadan petrochemical plant is the site of producing PVC thermoplastic materials with the production capacity of 60 tons annually.
Local media have not reported about the cause of incident so far.
