RIO DE JANEIRO, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's Supreme Federal Court (STF) has authorized the Federal Police to extend an investigation into allegations that President Michel Temer accepted bribes, local media reported on Friday.

Temer is accused of being bribed by port management company Rodrimar to sign a presidential decree.

The presiding judge in the case, Luis Roberto Barroso, agreed to allow the police to continue their investigation for another 60 days, according to news network TV Globo.

It is the third time the police have asked for more time to look into the matter, with the current investigation period due to expire in the first week of July.

The money was allegedly used to remodel the home of the president's daughter, Maristela Temer.

Suppliers of construction and other materials for the job told police they were paid in cash as instructed by architect Maria Rita Fratesi, wife of colonel Joao Baptista Lima, a friend of Temer's and the man is suspected of being the go-between for the bribes.

Temer has been accused of accepting bribes from other firms as well, including meatpacker J&F, whose executives told prosecutors they paid nearly 2,000 government officials to mind the company's interests.

The Chamber of Deputies, which is in charge of deciding whether to pursue allegations against the president, has repeatedly voted in Temer's favor.
