GAZA, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians were killed and 310 others injured on Friday in clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers on the border of eastern Gaza and Israel, medics said.

A 13-year-old boy, Yasser Abu al-Najja, was one of the killed, said Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza.

He was shot in the head by Israeli soldiers' gunfire east of the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, close to the border with Israel.

Al-Qedra said 310 Palestinians were injured in the clashes with Israeli soldiers during the 14th Friday anti-Israel protests, known as the "Great March of Return" rally, which started on March 30.

A total of 133 were admitted to Gaza hospitals, including six critically wounded, and 177 treated in the field as they suffered suffocation after inhaling tear gas fired by the Israeli soldiers, he added.

The organizers of the protests insist that their activities will go on until Israel ends more than 11 years of a blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.

Earlier in the day, Hamas activists called on Gaza populations to join the 14th Friday of rallies and protests.

Eyewitnesses said hundreds arrived at five different locations on the border with Israel. Some burned tires, and others cut parts of the barbed wire of the fence of the border with Israel, while activists flew and released flaming kites and balloons into Israel.

Abdulatif al-Qanou'a, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, said in an e-mailed press statement that the "March of Return" rally will continue "with its entire peaceful means until the unfair siege imposed on the Gaza Strip is lifted."

The mass protest this Friday, which is called "From Gaza to West Bank," aims to highlight the unity of Palestinians in confronting Israel and the rejection to U.S. President Donald Trump's Middle East peace deal, also known as "deal of the century."

According to the health ministry in Gaza, Israeli forces have killed at least 135 Palestinians, and injured 14,000 others since March 30.

Around half of the injured were shot by live ammunition, and many of them are still in critical condition.
