NANNING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will invest 394 billion yuan (59.5 billion U.S. dollars) for promoting the development of rural areas in the next three years, the regional development and reform commission said.

The investment will be allocated to more than 27,000 projects for improving public services, promoting the development of the tourism industry and eco-economic industry, and strengthening infrastructure construction in counties and villages, according to Yan Bogui, deputy head of the commission.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Guangxi still has more than 2 million rural poor people, about a million fewer than in 2016.
