CHENGDU, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Continuous heavy rain has affected the lives of 115,900 people in southwest China's Sichuan Province, local flood control authorities said on Tuesday.

Heavy rain has triggered a mountain collapse in Dege County on Monday, killing four people and injuring one, said the county government.

A total of 4,440 hectares of crops have been damaged, and an economic loss of 159 million yuan (23.8 million U.S. dollars) was caused in the province.

Sichuan's local meteorological center said the heavy rain will continue until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Neighboring Chongqing Municipality is also experiencing heavy downpours. Local meteorological authorities said the heavy rain, which started on Monday, will last until Thursday.
