TEHRAN, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Iran and Austria have signed four agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday.

The agreements were signed in Vienna on Wednesday night in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, it said.

The documents envisage cooperation in the fields of transportation, water resources management, renewable energies and mining.

"Good agreements and contracts have been signed between Iran and Austria to deepen Tehran-Vienna economic relations," Rouhani said at the signing ceremony.

"It is important that the government of Austria support its companies' business in Iran," he said, adding that the "unlawful" action of the U.S. administration in withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal should not affect the cooperation between the nations.

U.S. President Donald Trump has asked its allies and international companies to stop business with Iran following his decision in May to pull out of the nuclear deal.

Rouhani insisted that the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is the achievement by the global community, beneficial for economy, stability and security of the region and the world, and a model for resolving complicated issues through dialogue.

The nuclear deal was the result of 12 years of tough negotiations and its cancellation means the end of diplomacy, he said.

The Iranian leader added that Iran is currently "waiting for European countries' package on how to save the deal."

Kurz, for his part, described Rouhani's visit to Vienna as a good opportunity to hold dialogue on bilateral, regional and global ties, adding that the European Union still supports the nuclear deal.
