LONDON, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Experts from the University of Birmingham and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) have entered into an agreement to launch a joint research center on energy storage.

The partnership between the British university and the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of CAS creates a platform for both partners to launch new programs that continue their world-leading energy storage research.

"As the global requirement for energy continues to grow, our collaborative research in the area will help to establish technologies which can efficiently and economically store more energy, as well as balance fluctuating supplies of power on the grid," said Professor Yulong Ding, director of the Birmingham Centre for Energy Storage.

This is the latest collaboration between both organizations, which have already been working together on research partnerships that could help to reduce the health threat posed by air pollution in cities.
