U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade higher

NEW YORK, July 12 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Tuesday, with top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a upbeat note.

Shares of Baidu and New Oriental rose 3.9 percent and 3.27 percent, leading the gainers.

U.S. stocks closed higher on Thursday as investors digested a slew of economic data and corporate earnings reports.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 224.44 points, or 0.91 percent, to 24,924.89. The S&P 500 increased 24.27 points, or 0.87 percent, to 2,798.29. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 107.30 points, or 1.39 percent, to 7,823.92.

As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,226.65, marking a 0.84-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 4.39-percent gain for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
