GAZA, July 13 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian boy was killed Friday during clashes between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers in eastern Gaza Strip close to the border with Israel, with 25 others injured, local medics said.

Ayman Sahabani, chief of emergency at Shiffa Hospital in Gaza, told reporters that 15-year-old Rami Helles was killed after he was shot in the chest. Five of the injured were in critical condition.

The clashes in eastern Gaza between Palestinians and Israeli army forces resumed Friday as part of the rallies and protests called "the Great March of Return and Breaking the Israeli Siege," which had been organized since March 30.

Since March 30, the Palestinian Health Ministry said that 137 Palestinians have been killed and more than 16,000 have been injured.

Earlier on Friday, members of march called on the Palestinians to join the "100 days for the March of Return."

They also said that Friday's rallies were to support residents in Khan Al-Ahmar village in east Jerusalem. The protests broke out at five different locations along the eastern border of the Gaza Strip with Israel.
