U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher

NEW YORK, July 17 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Tuesday, with eight of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a upbeat note.

Shares of Alibaba, Baidu and SINA increased 1.21 percent, 1.10 percent and 1.10 percent respectively, leading the gainers.

NetEase and JD.com were the only laggards of the 10 stocks. Share of the companies declined 0.62 percent and 0.13 percent respectively, at the closing.

U.S. stocks closed higher on Tuesday as investors digested a slew of second-quarter corporate earnings reports.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 55.53 points, or 0.22 percent, to 25,119.89. The S&P 500 rose 11.12 points, or 0.40 percent, to 2,809.55. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 49.40 points, or 0.63 percent, to 7,855.12.

As of Monday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,257.04, marking a 1.79-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 5.37-percent gain for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
