MADRID, July 21 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona defender Yerry Mina has said that he wants to be a success at the club, according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo on Saturday.

Mina has had a difficult first six months at FC Barcelona, making just five league appearances after joining the club in January, but the tall central defender was one of Colombia's standout players during the World Cup finals, scoring three goals as they progressed to the last 16 in Russia.

Those goals and his apparent struggles to convince Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde of his worth have led to speculation that Barca may try to cash in on the 23-year-old, especially as the club have recently bolstered their defense with the arrival of Sevilla's Clement Lenglet. However, Mina said wants to stay in Spain and fight for his place.

"I have offers, but I want to succeed at Barca," he said as he participated in the first edition of his football campus in Colombian capital Bogota.

Mina is not required to return to Barcelona for pre-season training until August 2nd, meaning he will not take part in Barca's short tour of the United States which sees them play in the International Champions Cup against Tottenham Hotspur, AS Roma and AC Milan.
