BERLIN, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Freiburg have signed Australian midfielder Brandon Borrello from lower league side Kaiserslautern, both clubs confirmed on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old winger reinforces Freiburg's offence after putting pen to paper on an undisclosed contract.
"Brandon is a really talented and variable offensive player. He developed very well within a very short time after moving from Australia to Germany," Freiburg's sporting director Klemens Hartenbach said.
Borrello joins from Kaiserslautern where he played one season to make 19 appearances, providing three goals and seven assists. The new arrival is currently recovering from a cruciate rupture.
"Even after my injury Freiburg backed me up. I would like to pay back their trust. The club is known for making young players even better. I work hard to return to the pitch soon. I am extremely motivated and thankful to Freiburg for giving me this opportunity," Borrello said.
Freiburg encounter German Cup winners Eintracht Frankfurt for their season opener on Aug. 25. Enditem
