RIYADH, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Saudi-led coalition has foiled an attack on a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea by Houthi militia, Al Arabiya local news reported on Wednesday.

The coalition involved in a war in Yemen in support of Yemeni elected government confirmed that the tanker suffered minor damage.

It warned of the ongoing threats of the Houthi militias on the freedom of navigation and global trade in the Red Sea, which could cause an environmental disaster if allowed to continue.

The coalition has been accusing Iran of supporting the Houthi rebels through the supply of weapons and missiles.

The militias frequently respond to the airstrikes by the coalition with missile attacks against Saudi Arabia, mainly its border cities. Most of them are intercepted by the air forces.
