WASHINGTON, July 26 (Xinhua) -- All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony on Thursday revealed that his move to the Oklahoma City Thunder last season was not "a good fit".
The Thunder made a big splash last summer when they acquired Paul George from the Indiana Pacers via trade and then traded to get Anthony from the New York Knicks months later.
However, the Big Three, including Thunder star Russell Westbrook, did not work well in the past season, with the team exiting from the postseason in the first round after 4-2 loss to the Utah Jazz.
"At the end of the day, it wasn't a good fit," Anthony was quoted by ESPN as saying. "I think last year -- and I haven't talked about this before -- everything was just so rushed. The guys already had something in place, and then I come along in the 25th hour."
"It's like, oh, Melo just come on and join us. Like, Melo can figure it out since he's been around the game for a long time. At times, I had to figure it out on my own rather than somebody over there or people over there helping me. That's why it was so inconsistent," the 34-year-old star added.
In the three-part trade also including the Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta is not his final destination, according to earlier media report, and Anthony is expected to sign with the title-contending Houston Rockets in the days to come.
But before the move was officially consummated, Anthony is coy about the possibility of joining the Rockets.
"Obviously, we're just trying to figure it out," Anthony said. "Everybody knows about the trade to Atlanta. I think everything is trying to get cleared right now. I'll let the people do what they do. I just sit back and when the time comes, and the call gets made, we'll make that move." Enditem
