WEIFANG, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Shandong Luneng beat Newcastle Jets 5-2 on Wednesday and qualified for Weifang Cup semifinals.
The first half was a fifth-goal thriller. After Liu Chaoyang scored at the 2nd minute, Thomas Beecham scored an own goal at the 4th minute. Ji Pan and Xu Anbang scored at the 23rd and 39th minutes to put Shandong Luneng 4-1 ahead in the first half.
In the second half, Xu Anbang scored at the 91st minute to seal a 5-2 victory for Shandong Luneng.
In the other game on Wednesday, China National Youth Team defeated Spatak Moscow 2-1. Boca Juniors, Desportivo Brazil and RCD Espanyol joined Shandong Luneng in the semifinals.
Twelve youth teams from Russia, Argentina, Australia, Germany, Spain, China, Brazil, along with China's national youth team, are competing in the Luneng Weifang Cup International Football Tournament running from July 29 to August 4.
