BERLIN, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Midfielder Toni Kroos, 28, has been awarded with the prize of Germany's Player of the Year, the kicker Sportsmagazin announced on Sunday.

At the 59th edition of the poll, from 475 journalists 185 voted in favour of Kroos, who finished second in last year's poll.

"It is and remains a nice honour. Player of the Year is a prize you do not get so easily and especially not everyone," Kroos said.

Freiburg striker Nils Petersen (39 votes) and Schalke defender Naldo (38 votes) came on second and third place respectively.

Kroos' former coach Jupp Heynckes (91 votes) has been named Germany's Coach of the Year followed by Schalke's Domenico Tedesco (89) and Bayern Munich's Robert Kovac (77 votes).

"I am delighted that I have been named Coach of the Year by sports journalists. My big compliment goes also to those who did not vote for me because there are many good young coaches in the Bundesliga who deserve this award as well," Heynckes said.

For the second straight time Dzenifer Marozsan has been named as Woman Player of the Year. The 26-year-old received 105 of the votes while Wolfsburg Pernille Harder finished second with 70 votes.
