RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Paraguay international midfielder Robert Piris Da Motta has vowed to sacrifice himself for his new teammates as he prepares to make his debut for Brazilian giants Flamengo.

The 24-year-old was officially presented to fans and the media on Monday, five days after confirmation of his 2.5 million-euro transfer from Argentina's San Lorenzo.

"I'm a determined player and willing to sacrifice myself for my teammates, the club and the fans," Da Motta told reporters. "I'm going to give everything I can on the pitch and will fight to win every match.

Da Motta, who has been capped five times for Paraguay's national team, is expected to make his debut for Flamengo against Cruzeiro in the Copa Libertadores at Rio's Maracana Stadium on Wednesday.

He admitted he is already itching to to wear the Flamengo shirt for the first time in a competitive fixture.

"Flamengo is the biggest club in Brazil and it's a great honor to come here," he said. "I appreciated the faith that people here have shown in me and I hope to pay them back."

Flamengo are currently second in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings with 34 points from 17 matches. They are one of six teams in the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition.
