BERLIN, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Reigning world champion Andrius Gudzius from Lithuania secured the men's discus gold after a throw of 68.46 meters at the inaugural multi-sport European Championships here on Wednesday.
Sweden's Daniel Stahl took the silver with 68.23 meters and Austria's Lukas Weisshaidinger clinched bronze with his last attempt with a throw of 65.14 meters.
Despite losing the gold medal in the closing stages of the competition, Stahl is delighted about his silver medal: "It was a beautiful competition and I got silver so I am proud of myself."
The European Championships is jointly hosted by Glasgow and Berlin. Within10 days more than 4,500 athletes will be competing for 187 gold medals. Enditem
