SANTIAGO, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chilean President Sebastian Pinera presented a bill on Thursday to promote both remote jobs and working from home.

Pinera said the bill would not only make home and family life more compatible, but also "make Chileans' work life easier."

The proposed law "puts Chile in the modern world of the 21st century" and allows Chileans to "take advantage of the opportunities provided by the technology revolution," said Pinera.

He also highlighted the environmental benefits of the proposal, which cuts down on commuting and helps to lower air pollution.

That has been the experience in other countries where remote work is an option, he said.

The bill is the latest in a week filled with proposed laws unveiled by his administration, including universal childcare for working parents.
