Britain's Hudson-Smith wins men's 400m at European Championships

BERLIN, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Matthew Hudson-Smith clinched gold after clocking 44.78 seconds in the men's 400m final at the inaugural European Championships in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Friday.

Belgium's Kevin Borlee came second in 45.13 seconds , followed by his brother Jonathan Borlee with 45.19 seconds.

"It's a good feeling, it's a good feeling. I was talking to my agent and my coach. Time doesn't matter. That's for the future. This is about winning. That was the whole of this year, win Europeans. I did it," Hudson-Smith said.

The European Championships is a new multi-sport event, which is jointly hosted by Glasgow and Berlin. More than 4,500 athletes are competing for 187 gold medals until Aug. 12. Enditem
