U.S. -listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Friday with seven of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of BeiGene lost 4.02 percent, leading the laggards in the top 10 stocks.

Shares of Alibaba gained 1.59 percent at the closing, biggest gainer in the top 10 stocks.

U.S. stocks closed lower on Friday as investors kept an eye on geopolitical tensions and major U.S. economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 196.09 points, or 0.77 percent, to 25,313.14. The S&P 500 was down 20.30 points, or 0.71 percent, to 2,833.28. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 52.67 points, or 0.67 percent, to 7,839.11.

As of Thursday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,019.75, marking a 4.23-percent decrease for the month-to-date returns and a 2.31-percent loss for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
