BEIRUT, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese people are incapable of finding jobs due to great competition from Asian and Syrian laborers in Lebanon's job market, said head of the General Labor Union Bechara El Asmar Saturday.

"We urge the Lebanese government to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland in a bid to solve this issue because we cannot take this situation anymore," he was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an independent online newspaper.

The Syrian refugees' crisis has been a hot topic in Lebanon lately.

More than one million Syrian refugees are registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Lebanon. The government estimated the true number of Syrians in the country to be 1.5 million.

According to Elnashra, around 142 Syrian refugees returned to their country in the past 24 hours through Jdeidat Yabous and Dabousiye borders.

Last month, a Russian delegation visited Lebanon and presented a strategy aimed at facilitating the safe return of Syrian refugees to their country.

The Russian strategy specifies around 76 residential locations in Syria's Homs, Aleppo, Damascus and Hama to enable the return of 360,000 Syrian refugees as the first step in the coming few months.

The strategy also entails the rehabilitation of houses in the mentioned areas that would allow the return of 500,000 more Syrian refugees within two years.
