Jordan's king vows to continue fighting against terrorism

AMMAN, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan said Sunday that Jordan will continue the fight against terrorism, one day after terrorists killed four Jordanian officers, state-run Petra news agency reported.

In a meeting of the national policies council, the king said Jordan will fight the outlaws without any mercy and with all resolves and strengths.

"This cowardly act of terrorism or any act that targets the security of Jordan will only increase our unity and resolve to uproot terrorism and criminal gangs," the king said, adding that "Jordanians are stronger when they face such incidents."

The king stressed on the need to fight radical ideology and extremism, paying tribute to the efforts of the security forces.

The government announced on Sunday that four Jordanian officers were killed in a raid on a cell of terrorist in Salt, northwest of Amman, on Saturday and several others were injured including civilians. Five suspected terrorists were arrested.
