BERLIN, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Germany's Gesa-Felicitas Krause ran to gold in 9 minutes 18.80 seconds in the 3,000m steeplechase final at the European Championships in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
Switzerland's Schlumpf snatched the silver medal with 9:22.29 followed by Norway's Karoline Bjerkeli Grovdal 9:24.46.
"Everything just worked out today. I am super happy about my gold medal and totally enjoyed the atmosphere here," Krause said.
The European Championships is the first edition of a new multi-sport event, which is jointly hosted by Glasgow and Berlin. More than 4,500 athletes are competing for 187 gold medals until Aug. 12.
