Queiroz to stay as Iran head coach for 2019 AFC Asian Cup

TEHRAN, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Carlos Queiroz will remain as the Iranian national soccer team coach until the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, the Tehran Times daily reported on Tuesday.

The Portuguese has yet to extend his contract with Iranian Football Federation, but Deputy Sports Minister Mohammad Reza Davarzani said he will lead Iran's national team in the competition in the UAE.

"Queiroz will remain as Iran coach in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup," Davarzani said.

Carlos Queiroz has been recently linked with a move to South Korea and Colombia.

Iran's national soccer team have been drawn with Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam in Group D of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
