MADRID, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui once again avoided the questions whether or not his side needs to make any signings before the transfer window in Spain closes on August 31st.

Madrid kick off the new Liga Santander season on Sunday at home to Getafe after losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and Mateo Kovacic to Chelsea and with right back Alvaro Odriozola and 18-year-old Vinicius Jr the only new outfield players in their first team squad.

Lopetegui is thought to want to sign a striker before the end of the month, but in his press conference ahead of Sunday's match, he continued to say that he is happy with the players already at the club.

"What I want to do is concentrate on getting the best of a squad I am delighted with. We have a lot of talent and we all want to work for the club," said the former Spain coach.

Lopetegui said he was "certain" fans would see a Madrid with a "team mentality."

"The important thing is the players who are here ...anyone who is not here isn't important. It is not a priority to make signings now, but it is a priority to win matches," he added.

Lopetegui insisted that the club was "going to fight for the titles with the players that we have. We have full confidence in them, they are working very well and we believe they have more capacity and talent than people may think."

On the eve of the new league season, he explained that he wanted to see a Real Madrid that was "ambitious, which shows solidarity and which respects its rivals, but controls the games as we want to."
