TOKYO, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Monday.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 2.59 points, or 0.01 percent, from Friday to 22,267.79.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 1.85 points, or 0.11 percent, at 1,695.68.
Insurance, transportation equipment, and nonferrous metal-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
