JAKARTA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- China hammered Chinese Taipei in straight sets at the Asiad women's volleyball match here on Tuesday.

The Chinese Olympic champions took dominance for most of the time, ending the three sets 25-10, 25-14 and 25-14, respectively.

China's Yuan Xinyue got 12 points to lead the game, followed by team captain Zhu Ting who scored 11 points. None of the Chinese Taipei players scored in double figures.

"We tried our best today. But our opponents are very tall and perhaps the best team in the world, and there is a big gap between us," said Chinese Taipei coach Yao Chengshan.

"We tried our best to block their attacks, but just could not do that," he added.

Now the team hopes to enter the top four of the Group B which composes of six countries and regions, and after that, "just do the best that we can," according to Yao.

"Our opponents are very great players, and I'm most impressed by Zhu Ting, who handled every ball with ease," said Chinese Taipei player Yang Menghua.

"Even though we were a team weaker than them, they still took the game seriously and didn't lose focus. I really admire that," she added.

"Our main task was still to practice and warm up," said China coach Lang Ping regarding the match against Chinese Taipei.

She said that the team performed better in the rhythm of first pass compared to their opening game in which they had a landslide victory over Vietnam.

In their next match on Thursday, China will face South Korea to which the Chinese team lost unexpectedly in May in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League.

"It's difficult to tell the results before the match (on Thursday) kicks off. We should focus on bringing our best play, while being prepared that the opponents might have outstanding performance," said Lang.

"Anyway, we should get ready for a tough game against South Korea," she said.
