BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Wang Yang on Wednesday stressed that fighting pollution was the responsibility of everybody in society.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, made the remarks while addressing the closing meeting of the third session of the Standing Committee of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.

"The battle against pollution is one of the three major battles put forward at the 19th CPC National Congress, and the session, focusing on problems and suggestions related to pollution prevention and control, showed the CPPCC's principle and feature of centering on the central issues and serving for the overall situation," Wang said.

"No one should be a bystander in pollution prevention and control," he said, asking the CPPCC to continue focusing on the environment, and carry out investigations and research to implement CPC Central Committee decisions.

He called on political advisors to be aware of hard-earned progress in environmental protection, enhance their sense of responsibility, take the lead on environment-friendly production mode and lifestyle and promote related policies of CPC Central Committee.

Chinese political advisors discussed problems on pollution work and offered suggestions to correct them.

Fourteen members of the CPPCC National Committee and its Standing Committee addressed the meeting Tuesday.
