LONDON, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Arsenal coach Unai Emery hopes his side's home game against West Ham United will provide him with his first win after replacing Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

It's been a tough start to life in England for the former Sevilla and Paris Saint Germain coach as he kicked off life in the Premier League with a 2-0 defeat at home to reigning champions Manchester City and a narrow 3-2 loss away to Chelsea.

West Ham, who also lost their two opening matches to the campaign, provide an opportunity for Arsenal to get some points on the board and to end the debate over whether Emery's attempts to play the ball out from defense all of the time is effective.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, Emery defended his tactics, saying his idea was to "control the game."

"I know we need intensity in every moment in the games. This control is to not to let the opposition do their work, their play," he explained.

However, the Spaniard admitted that in the first two matches of the season Arsenal "didn't have the control ... Saturday is another match, tactically it is different and I want to have more control to find the win in this match," he said.

Despite the early setbacks, Emery said Arsenal would not change their attacking style of football.

"We want to go forward and score. Maybe we can do it with one long pass directly or progress with the passes, control with possession to win games."

"We can find goals as we did against Chelsea and we can find them with less passes on the pitch, but the important thing is all the players know in each match the best way to attack."

The coach also confirmed that French defender Laurent Koscielny is training with the first team as he recovers from the Achilles tendon injury which saw him miss this summer's World Cup.

"He is working very, very hard; every day he is having two training sessions ... It is difficult to know (when he can play again) but he is running, walking on the pitch. It is very good progress," said Emery.
