BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Argentina's federal police on Thursday searched three properties belonging to former president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.

The moves are part of an ongoing investigation into allegations that Kirchner took bribes from businessmen in exchange for lucrative government deals.

The searches, ordered by federal Judge Claudio Bonadio, were conducted on a residence in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, as well as two homes in the cities of Rio Gallegos and El Calafate, both in the country's southern Santa Cruz province.

Kirchner, who served as president from 2007-2015, is currently a senator. The Senate authorized the police's operation during its Wednesday session.

Kirchner, an outspoken critic of the current government, denies wrongdoing and has accused the judicial branch of colluding with officials to curtail her political career.
