JAKARTA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Shek Wai Hung from Hong Kong, China won his second gold medal from the men's vault final at the Asian Games here on Friday.

The 26-year-old who brought home the first ever gymnastics gold at Asiad for Hong Kong, China at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, grabbed the gold in Jakarta with 14.612 points, beating South Korean Kim Hansol, also the gold medallist of floor exercise, to second in 14.550 points.

But it was Indonesian Agus Adi Prayoko who was most watched at the stage. The 29-year-old won the bronze with 14.125 points in the deafening cheers of home fans. It's the first-ever gymnastics medal for Indonesia at the Asian Games.

Shek reached the vault final after topping qualification round with 14.425 points. He raised his performance to a new high in the final with two jumps featuring both high difficulty and execution scores.

Shek valued his second Asiad gold more than the history-making one four years ago.

"Because I have been through even more over the past four years, pressures as a defending champion, injuries and training and everything," said Shek, sobbing at the mixed zone before cameras.

He was so deep in rehearsing each jump in mind that he barely noticed the competitors' performances. "I told myself being focused, caring no one and I did it," said Shek.

He also hoped his victory can help gymnastics gain popularity and more support in Hong Kong. "I hope the gold medal will be an encouragement for younger gymnasts in Hong Kong," he said.
