BERLIN, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat Leipzig 4-1 on home soil to close the first round in Bundesliga on Sunday.

The "BVB" caught a winning start but it was a stiff piece of work as the hosts had to overturn a deficit against offensively minded Leipzig.

Leipzig secured a fairy tale start on the road as Jean-Kevin Augustin made use of Yussuf Poulsen's assist to break the deadlock from very close range in the first minute.

Dortmund were shocked and needed 20 minutes to recover and restored parity through Mahmoud Dahoud, who headed home Marcel Schmelzer's cross into the top right corner in the 21st minute.

Ralf Rangnick's men remained unimpressed and had the chance to grab the lead again but Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Buerki denied Augustin and Emil Forsberg in the closing period of the first half.

The hosts turned the tides before the break as Leipzig's Marcel Sabitzer deflected Marco Reus' free kick unstoppable to make it 2-1 on the scoreboards with 40 minutes played.

Dortmund gained momentum and extended the lead just three minutes later when Axel Witsel benefitted on a rebound from close range to poke home with a bicycle kick.

After the restart, Leipzig came out pushing forward but Buerki was again on guard to deny Lukas Klostermann with five minutes into the second half.

Dortmund retracted with the lead behind whereas Leipzig increased the pressure. However, the "Bulls" were unable to overcome Buerki, who defused promising opportunities from Timo Werner and Bruma in the closing period.

The hosts were not done with the scoring and put the result beyond doubt in the dying minutes of the game as Marco Reus completed a fast break to mark the final 4-1 score.

With the result, Borussia Dortmund capture the top spot in the Bundesliga standings meanwhile Leipzig start with a defeat into the season.

Elsewhere, Anthony Ujah's sole goal helped Mainz to edge Stuttgart 1-0 on home soil.
