PALEMBANG, Indonesia, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese women's beach volleyball players thrashed their Japanese opponents in the Asian Games group final here on Monday, continuing China's domination from the last several editions of the Asiad.

China's pairing of Wang Fan/Xia Xinyi managed to secure the win in the third set after they lost the first set against their Japanese opponents Miki Ishii/Megumi Murasaki.

The experienced Chinese players ended the match 17-21, 21-19, 15-10, bagging the gold medal in a sports that has never been won by another team since 2002 Busan Asian Games.

The silver medal went to the Japanese pairing.

"We had a problem with their ball services in the first set. Their ball services were fast that made us uncomfortable," Wang Fan said on the sidelines of medal ceremony.

She said that she and her teammate managed to turn the situation around in the second set.

Wang Fan added that in the third set they played more aggressively.

With the gold medal in 2018 Asian Games added to their trophy case, the Chinese women's beach volleyball has now booked a record five consecutive Asiad wins.
