JAKARTA, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has broken the Southeast Asia's record of winning gold medals in one Asian Games, a minister said here on Friday.

As of Thursday evening, Indonesia has bagged 90 medals, including 30 golds, 23 silvers and 37 bronzes, in the ongoing Asian Games, which will conclude on Sunday.

With that figure, particularly 30 golds, Indonesian Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi said that Indonesia has secured the most medals ever made by countries in the Southeast Asia in the continental sports gala.

"All the achievement is exhilarating," said minister Nahrawi.

Thailand ranked second, when its athletes secured 24 gold medals during the 13th Asian Games in Bangkok, according to the Indonesian sport and youth ministry.

Prior to the Asiad, Indonesia is expected to take 16 to 20 gold medals for a top-10 place.

Currently, Indonesia, who send some 800 athletes for all 40 sports, is ranked fourth, behind China, Japan and South Korea on the medal tally.
